The article provides information about the main components that make up toothpastes. The abrasives found in toothpastes (calcium carbonate, silica, titanium dioxide), their main characteristics and guidelines for choosing are described. Attention is paid to the value of the toothpaste abrasiveness index RDA, recommendations of dentists on the choice of toothpastes of various directions are given. The functions of other components of toothpastes (moisturizers, whitening components, anti-inflammatory agents, aroma, etc.) are considered; the most common components are listed. Generalized data will allow recipe developers to take a fresh look at the familiar topic and inspire the creation of new recipes.

Innovative approach to control acne-prone skin

Excessive sebum production can give rise to oily skin, shiny appearance, enlarged pores and favour the development of acne lesions. The care of acne-prone skin involves the use of harsh molecules, wash out and multi-step products that irritate the skin and limit user compliance. This study describes the development of a bicosome system that targets the epidermis and follicles to effectively deliver a sebostatic active compound and potentiate its effects on sebum production and acne lesion prevention. This is an alternative approach to that offered by current products, which can be included in the daily care of acne-prone skin.

Acylamphoacetates are a class of amphoteric surfactants, derived from the fatty acids of vegetable oils. They are referred to as dermatologically mild surfactants, which have excellent foaming properties, excellent thickening action and the chemical pH-stability in the range from 3 to 10. They are readily biodegradable in the environment and are classified as slightly toxic to humans, animals and plants. Acylamphoacetates are recommended for use in cosmetics, as well as household chemicals by skin contact.
